TIPS TO HELP YOU FEEL READY FOR YOUR SHOOT

A little guidance. A lot of self-trust.

Booking your boudoir session is a bold step. These tips will help you feel prepared — physically and emotionally — so you can walk in feeling confident, relaxed, and ready to enjoy the experience.

They’re not rules — just helpful reminders to care for yourself along the way.

Before You Book

Choose a Photographer You Trust

You should feel at ease with the person behind the camera. Spend time reviewing their work, understanding their approach, and asking questions. You’re not just booking a session — you’re choosing a space where you can be seen.

Know Your “Why”

What made you consider this? A personal milestone, a gift, a decision to reclaim your confidence? Knowing your reason helps guide the experience — and keeps self-doubt in check.

Planning & Style Prep

Plan Your Outfits

Bring a few options: something bold, something soft, something that simply feels good on your skin. I’ll help you choose what photographs best, but versatility gives us room to explore.

Refresh Your Hair

A clean trim, fresh roots, or simply brushing out any ends that might show — small touch-ups go a long way. Keep your look true to you, just polished.

Treat Yourself to a Mani + Pedi

Boudoir is about celebrating yourself — and a little pampering can help you feel radiant. Manicured nails photograph beautifully in close-up shots, so consider a soft polish or tidy natural look that makes you feel put together.

Practice Your Smile (and Smize)

Get comfortable with your expressions ahead of time. Try smiling, softening your gaze, or playing with your eyes in the mirror. A smize — smiling with your eyes — adds subtle power to your portraits. You’ll have full guidance during the session — but a little practice builds confidence.

Polish Your Heels

A great pair of heels can elevate the whole vibe. Give them a quick shine and check the soles and edges — you never know which details the camera will catch.

Cut Out Tags in Advance

Care labels and tags can sneak into frame and be difficult to edit out — especially in lace or sheer fabrics. Snip them ahead of time to keep the focus on you.

Mindset & Confidence

Be Open to Surprises

The pose you were unsure about might become your favourite. A quiet moment might turn powerful. Stay open — the best images often come from what you didn’t plan.

Don’t Compare Yourself to Others

Your beauty is yours. No two bodies — or journeys — are the same. Celebrate it as you are, not against someone else’s highlight reel.

Communicate Your Boundaries

If there’s a pose, outfit, or idea that doesn’t feel right, speak up. This session is about your comfort and confidence — and that includes saying no when needed.

Enjoy the Process

Boudoir isn’t just about the photos. It’s about how you feel during and after. Lean in, have fun, and let yourself enjoy the experience. You’ve earned it.

Session Prep & Body Readiness

Pack Intentionally

Before your session, set aside everything you plan to bring: outfits, accessories, touch-up items, and anything sentimental you want in your photos. The more organized you are, the less you’ll worry on the day.

Watch What You Eat (Gently)

A light, nourishing meal 1–2 hours before your session will help you stay energized and present. Avoid anything new or heavy that could cause bloating or discomfort.

Sleep Is Self-Care Too

A good night’s sleep isn’t just about rest — it helps you feel clear, grounded, and confident. Give yourself permission to unplug early the night before. You deserve to feel your best.

Hydrate Ahead of Time

Glowing skin, clear eyes, and an energized body all start with water. Begin increasing your hydration a few days before your session — it makes a bigger difference than you think.

Warm Up Like It’s a Workout

Boudoir involves posing, arching, lifting, stretching — it’s a gentle workout in disguise. Try a few light stretches or yoga moves the day before or morning of to help you feel loose and confident.

Be Mindful of Your Timing

If possible, avoid scheduling your session during your monthly cycle. Even if you're comfortable shooting then, fatigue or bloating can make it harder to feel your best.

In-Studio Flow & Connection

Trust Your Photographer

You’re not expected to know what to do — that’s my job. I’ll guide you every step of the way with posing, styling, and support. You’re never alone in this process.

Stay Relaxed and Breathe

Tension shows. Don’t worry about “doing it right.” Just breathe, settle into your body, and let go. We’ll work together to bring out your natural rhythm.

Take Breaks if You Need To

Your session isn’t a performance. If you need a stretch, a sip of water, or a quick reset, just ask. You deserve to feel steady and supported the entire time.

Final Touches & Personalization

Do a Final Lingerie Check

Before your shoot, try everything on — including accessories — to make sure it fits, flatters, and feels good. A little trial run prevents day-of surprises.

Bring Something Meaningful

Personal touches like a partner’s shirt, a journal, or a piece of jewellery can add depth and emotion to your images. If it matters to you, it belongs.

Rehearse Posture (Briefly)

It’s not about being stiff or perfect — but becoming aware of how you carry yourself helps. Try standing tall, relaxing your shoulders, and engaging your core.

Talk to Me First

Have a question, concern, or last-minute idea? Reach out before your session — no overthinking needed. I’m here to help you feel supported and ready, even before you walk in.

Final Words

The hardest part is often just saying yes — and you’ve already done that. Everything else is just preparation to help you feel safe, confident, and seen. Keep what feels good, let go of the rest, and know you’re in good hands. If anything feels unclear along the way, just reach out.

I can’t wait to create something beautiful with you.
